Just purchased a universal looking tapered slip-on that was deep discounted to $30 from $85 at the local cycle shop.
I figured for that price I will have nothiong to lose, so I'm going to try to adapt it to fit to the Savage. The sales tag says "Action slip-in strgt", and the salesguy didn't seem to know anything about it.
Not knowing much about mufflers, I am wondering if I have bought a baffled pipe or a "straight" pipe, as eluded to on the sales tag.
If I hold the unit up, I can look straight through it. This hole space is about the diameter of a silver dollar, however, the inside walls are heavily clad in what looks like flared chainmale, like many half bell shapes of metal in a corncob type pattern.
What am I looking at? Is this a baffled pipe even though it appears to look rather "open"?
I am also curious about what sort of a sound I can anticipate from this sort of an installation.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks.
